RE: Digital TV questions, weak or sporatic signals

Sounds like a weak signal. With the analog signal you could cheat a little and get "snow" but with digital it will freeze or get real blocky. You will know when the channels are digital because the channel will be something like 20.1 or 51.1 something to that effect. At home we have a 50' tower antenna and have found a sweet spot and get all the digital channels and with our high definition TV we get the High Def "free". We also have direct tv but we don't have the high def package but it's digital and receive a nice picture.

RE: Internet

We have embarq and I do have an email account set up with them. I find that their webmail is slow and takes a long time to load, my machine is fast but the site itself is slow. I am now getting all my mail through a gmail account. My email address will never change even though I may get rid of my land line which includes embarq.

RE: Patio Mats

49.99 plus tax from our local RV dealership. We love it, it's light and reversible, easy to clean and store. IMHO you can't go wrong with them.

RE: hooking up lp wireless to printer

Do you have a wireless router or what do you have now? If a wireless router, just share the printer. When you go to the laptop it will see it on the network.

RE: Dodge 3500 4x4 height

One of the reasons I choose to go with a 4X2 this time around. But, if you notice also the Dodge sits high in the rear end. It will drop some when hitched to a fiver. How much? Depends on how much weight you place back there, but generally you can figure it will be nearly level when hitched.
Agreed, ours levels out with the fiver on it. Both of us are vertically challenged so a ladder is always kept in the back for access. It's been there for 2 years and no one has ever bothered it. It's high that for sure!

RE: Lake in the Forest RV park

Is anyone familiar with Lake in the Forest RV park in the Ocala national forest? My MIL was looking at that for a big family get together this summer, and I was just wondering what kind of place that is. After looking at their website (which is poor at best) I'm not that thrilled with it, it seems kind of elitest. Let me know your experiences.
I rode by and took a look this summer, find another spot, maybe try Salt Springs Rec area
My sentiments exactly!!!

RE: Porta-Bote

We just fold ours up and after putting the slide in we lay it in the floor of the fiver. We also use rugs to cushion it so it won't rub the cabinets or anything. Drilling holes in the side of the fiver was not an option we wanted. The motor, 6HP 4 stroke, is locked to the fiver hitch in the bed of the truck. If I could get DH to use it more then I would be happy. Oh well, at least we have it if we want to use it.

RE: Roxio vs. Nero

Nero is my choice. I found that I liked windows movie maker better to do the editing. It didn't appear to be so critical when I was trying to edit video with the frames. However, with movie maker it will only allow you to burn to a CD. I would do my editing in movie maker, save my project just in case and then save it as a movie. I would then go to Nero and open it up and add my chapters, background or anything else I wanted and then burn it to a DVD. Personally, I didn't care of Nero for the video editing. Try moive maker....it's free and if you don't like it then get Nero or Roxio.

RE: porta-bote

We transport ours alot of times from the campground to the ramp. Normally we put it together at the campsite. DH made this 2X2 that inserts in the holes on the rails so the porta-boat will rest on and we leave the tailgate down. He then throws a rope over the boat and tightens it down so it won't fly or bounce off. The motor is in the bed, locked to the 5er hitch. Works for us! When we get to the ramp we just slide it off the back of the truck and put the motor on and go. We do flip the boat upside and slide it on the truck with the top rail of boat down on the rails on truck.

RE: Temporary Full Time

We have been there done that not once but TWICE! We sold and built 2 houses like that. The biggest thing was the laundry. What a pain! Everything was in storage and we would change out the summer clothes for winter clothes during our so-called seasons here in Fl. We sure saved a great deal of money doing it that way. Hmm...we did give up camping for several years after each temporary full time. The first time was alot more fun, we were newlyweds and the second time was just saving money. LOL!
Forgot to add...those TTs were only 23'!

RE: Just bought a 1990 34FT Pace arrow WHAT A LEMON

Chalk it up and move on. We bought an older motorhome once and loved the old thing but not what it would of taken to set it up the way we wanted. Lost our butts on it but we got rid of it, traded it back into the same dealership that sold it to us. It will empty your pockets in a hurry!

RE: Florida's Nature Coast - Chasshowitska

Was the place cleaned up? My parents only live up US 19 from there and several years ago we drove through. We were not impressed at the time, it looked kind of "low rent". If I can remember right there were alot of older junky campers. Has it been cleaned up? How far from the gulf is the campground? Thanks....

RE: Portable fire pit

I would suggest you buy the "flame dancer" propane camp fire. We have the "Yukon" but the flame dancer gives off much better heat. These are easy to transport and don't smell!
We have the flame dancer on the backporch and use it in our Florida winters and can see where it would be great for an RV. It's small, easy to transport and very clean with the screw down lid.

RE: Changing a Family Traditon

Since none of us really like turkey all that much, Sometimes I do lasagna, salad, garlic bread and dessert. One year we did prime rib and baked potatoes and seven-layter salad and a couple of those brown and serve breads and of course, dessert. The point of thanksgiving is being together. And one year we did the turkey, but everybody else had to bring a dish. I like to watch football too.
Have to agree with you on the groceries. It just seems that between Thanksgiving and Christmas we overdose on turkey and ham. Prime Rib is what I am talking about. :B

Make sure you do the audio tour, it gives alot of details about the house. I enjoyed the Biltmore House much more than the Heart Castle. Different styles but the Biltmore is awesome!
